Victor TNS-2 Fanuc 10T-A 1988 Hydraulic Activated Tailstock not Working

    Hi,

First of all Wish you all a Happy New Year! Hope you can help me out with a problem I am having with an old Victor TNS-2 Fanuc 10T-A 1988 Lathe, which is working perfectly, its in very good condition..
only problem I have is that I am not able to Activate the Hydraulic Tailstock, not sure of the procedure.
By the way, Tailstock quill switch is working fine!, There is a Switch Tailstock Body Retract and Advance, which doesnt do anything on the main OP panel.

Maybe im needing an M-Code?, or the turret must be in an Exact position?
Its a positioning type Tailstock with a Hydraulic pin that engages with the turret, and there is a larger hydraulic piston that clamps into the Guideways.

There Is a total of 4 Endstop switches which I recently replaced with Originals.
-2 Switches for the correct positioning of the Turret so that the Tailstock engages with the Pin.
-2 Switches that feedbacks that the Pin is either retracted or in Position and is engaging the Turret.

Tailstock Quill works fine, Im also able to activate everything via the Solenoid valves manually.
Anyways,it just occured to me that Im going to check the relays today, and if I find a solution, I´ll write it up here.

hope you can help me out!,
    regards!

Do you have schematics or ladder listing? Find places with corresponding comments (tailstock...) and upload copies

post a picture with the operator panel.
As far as i know must be a push button from operator's panel to take the pin out.
if you have the elctrical book and ladder we can help you.

if i were you i do like this:
-scan the electrical book and make a pdf document:
-take pictures with every ladder page and make a pdf document:

with these 2 send to us we will help you shortly now and in the future.

    Good luck!

We need a page from electrical schematics from winch we could determine physical output for tailstock. Then we will tell you what to find in ladder.

Go to page NC/PC -> PCDGN, type Y0 and push SEARCH
You will see the page with physical outputs, take a photos of all pages where Y-signals are signed (usually they are)

    Hi!,

Just to let you know I was able to resolve the Issue, the Procedure is in the attached picture..Found it somewhere online, it was for a model TNS3 slightly newer version of the Lathe.
Im not sure the Tailstock can be programmed with an M-Code. Anyways thank you for your help. Leaving the solution here posted.. !

Correct Zavateandu!, But the procedure is that
1.) X axis must be Homed
2.)Turret must be in front of the Tailstock (There is an arrow)
3.)Mode must be in RAPID 50% or less
-then TAILSTOCK retract button on Operator Panel must be pressed until the Turret touches the home Switches. The Pin engages automatically and you can move the TAILSTOCK backward or Forward. After you stop pressing this switches 2-3 seconds later the Tailstock locks into place

    yeah you are right.
i am service man on the victor machines and the TNS 2,3 i worked some year ago ,6 or 7 years ,can't remember and i knew it something from operator panel but i forgot and i couldn't remeber.
Nowdays i work on the new models of Victor Taichung machines and the new models have the programable tailstock with a M code.

still i got pictures from my shop deliverying one of that.

Zavateandu, thats exactly how my machine looks only that mine has a brand new paint job. Now that you say that you are a service man on the victor machines..today I decided to take of the slide cover that is protecting the ballscrew, and I found myself with a In perfect condition ballscrew(Which is by the way good news) but there is absolutely no lubrication line or whatsoever. Is this normal?
I know this is a little bit off Topic, but its also an important part of this machine model..

as far as i know the lubrification of the Z ballscrew is coming through the Z axes bed straight into the nut so you can not see it untill you dismount the nut.
normally must be a little oil on the ballscrew if you check closer. If not ,you must check if oil is going to the nut(check the photos )

    Hi!,

Thanks! Now all is clear, solved the problem one of those lubrication lines was clogged. Cleaned the filters and the lube is working again seems I missed the first time where the distribution was.

    Hi!,

Its me here again with the Victor Tns-1 Machine!
Hope you are all doing fine. Given the fact that this post has something to do with lubritcation, does someone have an Idea which parameter can be used to program/reduce pumping time values of the lubrication pump?
I think its using a tremendous amount of oil. I would like to be able to control this.
    Hope someone has an idea..

Re: Victor TNS-2 Fanuc 10T-A 1988 Hydraulic Activated Tailstock not Working

    should bein diagnose screen)

D410-----Time interval between lube pump operation while machine is running
D415-----Time interval between lube pump operation while machine is idle.
The value of these 2 counters are in seconds so for example if is 120 you will have 120 sec--2 minutes interval

D370-----Length of time lube pump keeps running after pressure check when pressure remains abnormal until alarm is given
D375-----Length of time lubrication is pumped while pump is on
D395-----Time interval before pressure is checked will pump is on
These timers are on miliseconds,ms,so a value of 15000ms---15 seconds
Please check and let me know if you need more help
    Have a good day.

Victor TNS-2 Fanuc 10T-A 1988 Hydraulic Activated Tailstock not Working

Hey been trying to find the right thread to jump in with my issue. Purchased a used Hitachi Seiki HT-25 and put it in my garage. Took me about a year but finally got power to it. Been working through sticky micro switches and learned about the Z axis thrust assembly, BANG, lol. Had issues getting the spindle to operate. Everything was working in MDI mode except any turning codes. M3/M4 after playing with M40/ M41 and spinning chuck manually the machine came to life. Shut it down to replace all covers and wires and so on. Powered the machine back up and now nothing in MDI mode is working. I have 2 maintenance manuals and a operator's APPENDIXES manual. Not much from the manuals has been helpful to me. Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks
