Newbie neeeds Help - Stepper "grinding" - 6040

    Hi everyone,

I am very new to CNC and orderded myself a 3-axis 6040z cnc router.
The setup was relatively smooth so far. I got everything wired up and successfully connected the machine to MACH3.

Unfortunately then the problems arised. I have problems with driving all x,y and z axis smoothly.
When any axis moves there is this awful loud grinding sound.

I first thought the mechanics would be the problem, but after some 'googling' I found out that the electronics may also cause that.
So I took one of the motors off the axis in order to run it standalone and found out that the grinding seems to be coming from the motor itself!

Here is a video illustrating that problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMOh_H6JPzE

Do you have any idea what I could do to improve the situation?
I am afraid to use the machine like that.

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Latest awkward observation:

When I hold the left arrow key to make the x axis work and also move my mouse randomly, the grinding noise changes.

My feeling is that my motherboards parallel port is somehow unstable. But I don't want to lead you on a wrong track - in case you have any ideas what I could try, please let me know.

Motors sound massively underpowered to me.

Are you using mach3. Check your motor settings.
