Hello,

We have a dielectric oil-based wire EDM machine and sinker EDM which works with oil too. I have a doubt about Dielectric Oil. How often should I renew our oil?

Some say that only need to change the oil when it has bad smell, other say that each 2,4,5...years.

But is it not possible to check or analyse some parameters of the dielectric oil to decide that it is going worse? Any objetive parameter so this way we could decide when to renew this oil.

The dialectric in my sinkers are almost 20 years old.
Full disclosure: We bout the expensive synthetic stuff. We mostly run very small >3amp burns.
Whenever the pump seems too loud, we change the filters.
