I assume you want to hook it up to Ethernet? There are basically two ways to do this. One is using a packet driver with an ftp application (like included in mtcp) and the other would be using the microsoft lanman driver to connect to windows (or samba) shares. I also put a usb port on my machine which was fairly easy. This thread has some links to how I did it.

I started with the usb port but I didn't like needing to reboot every time I swapped the drive so I pulled Ethernet to the machine and started using ftp. I have lanman drivers installed but I generally use the ftp because it's more flexible in my environment.
Thanks , yea that old school, but it works.
That's the problem, trying to find guys that recall the old, but best way to talk to these machine.
Thanks again
Dennis
I tried the F6-DataNET option on my control tonight. Never bothered even trying it before. Evidently I don't have the software either.
How does the datanet work? Over serial or ethernet? It appears the option is running a batch file because it drops to dos when it kicks the file missing error and then restarts the control when I escape. I suspect the batch file loaded the network drivers and mapped a drive somehow? My guess would be some variation of packet or lanman driver. Have you called EMI and asked about the availability of software?
You've aroused my interest.
I believe you right about Datanet, Need to call EMI ,
EMI updated this machine before I got it, new flash drive and motherboard. But only reloaded the machine controls back to it.
Talked to old owner, there was lots of programs not reinstalled.
Mine has an EMI version and is missing some stuff also. I'd be interested to know what EMI says. Look at c:\datanet.bat it appears to be a place holder that says no network installed. Also look at c:\dos\network.txt that has some old information on the various flavors of dos networking protocols.
If you install the Microsoft Lanman drivers and map a network drive on bootup, the drive will appear as a drive in the normal file manager which is likely easier to use than the datanet option. My link in post #2 details how to setup MS lanman and where to download the software.
