1992 MV40b tool input setting problem

Hi, I have a 1992 MV40b that I'm having trouble setting the tool positions on. When I'm in the tool settings page the manual says to put pot number in MG and tool number under T.
Example MG 5 input, then T 5 input then WRITE. And I get the message "**MISS SETTING**". And if I try to delete the tool using -1 in MG I get the same message.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I've searched google and there are no hits showing the "**MISS SETTING**" error.
    Thanks,
    Grant.

You don't use the T5, just 5 AFAIK, and -1 would be a miss setting. You should have a softkey to delete the tool number, of coarse this is assuming a Fanuc.

Hi, Yes sorry that post was not clear, I key in 5 input, 5 input, then press the "WRITE" softkey. All I get is the flashing "**MISS SETTING**".
According to the manual -1 should clear the tool. So -1 input, 5 input, WRITE, should clear tool 5, but it keeps flashing "**MISS SETTING**".
    Here's a youtube video showing what's happening.

Yes it is a Fanuc 0m.

You appear to be trying to change the pot number, you need to enter the pot number, then cursor right and enter the tool number. If the tool number exist anywhere else in the magazine or spindle, it will give you an error.

Aha, what if I want to delete a tool number? It should let me do that.

I'm working around it by calling up say tool 6 for my 6mm endmill, and the machine knows where it is in the magazine regardless of what pot the tool sits in.

Now I'm having trouble with the tool offsets, they don't seem to do anything.

Lots to learn, I made the assumption that the tool offset would be loaded when the tool was loaded, didn't realise I had to also do G43 H#.

I found the solution to this, member Stucapco scanned some pages from his manual for me and they were different to what my manual had.
Instead of inputting "-1" to cancel the tool number you enter a "0".
