As the title indicates, tool manager will not start when such right-click inside the operation andchoose to create a new tool.
Same if you click on a tool in the Operations manager, in a file that been done before, so do not start Tool wizard / Tool Manager
Cannot edit a tool, can´t do anything to change the tools

error:

Mastercam cannot run the selected Tool Manager function because of a communication error.

Mastercam timed-out attempting to connnect to Tool Manager

Please retry the operation. If doing this does not fix the problem, contact your Mastercam reseller for assistance.......

have tried to reinstall the MCAM, run the new Nvidia drivers, reboot the computer, etc.
(Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 760m)

Anyone who has encountered this problem?

If you open X8 and in a new file go to toolpaths --> tool manager, does that error as well?

I can open the tool manager but I can´t manage the tools....
I mean that I can select already created tools but I cant create or edit any tool.

It must have something with the graphics to do, tried on a another laptop and works fine!!

My laptop:

Acer Aspire V3-772G
Intel Core i7-4702MQ 2.2GHz With Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 760M
16 GB DDR3
SSD etc...

Does not work to make a new file with new tools, edit an old file or edit Mastercam's own x8 files ...

Shoot, seems like something is installed wrong...? But I do not know without seeing it.

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure all the files are linked correctly in

settings > system config > files maybe try comparing that to the laptop that works....

I do not think there may be something wrong with linkages or installation since I have reinstalled several times and also installed on another PC where it has worked.

Cad / cam vendors recommend quadro cards and some flags to GeForce not a good card to their program.
Think more and more that there is the problem but wonders why there are no patches or drivers that can fix this.

Have you found a fix to the problem I have the same issue. I have been in communication with our Mastercam re-seller and they are looking into the problem.
I will let you know if i figure out how to fix it.

FIXED with permissions in Windows 7 64bit. MC X8. Changed permissions for the Public Documents\shared mcamx8
Also, running as admin solved it.
