Everything Hoss linked was to the BF20L. I ordered an R8 spindle from Grizzly for the G0704, dropped some good bearings in the spindle and plopped it right in the head. Everything was a direct swap. No issues.

Bucksfolley, Although the PM machines come for the same factory as optima, I do not think they are the same as the optimum.

Kenny, you have the Optima? The ways came all nice and ready to go?

I bought mine used so I have no idea what the ways looked like from the factory. I'm no expert on the subject matter either. I wouldn't want to give you bad info. The only reason I offered up the info on the R8 for the BF20L is that I had actually done it and new the information was correct.

Thanks, I found some posts as well. This one lists the parts. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/bencht...tml#post821414

Also found this one, another swap. He says that after taking it apart it is no better than the grizzly in his opinion. I don't know just passing it on, it is a lot more money, almost $1000 more with the stand, I would have expected a better opinion. Again I don't know, just passing it on.

Ah the dreaded catalog, when it arrives here I will loose a half a day checking out what is new.

This is interesting though, makes you wonder if Grizzly is having issues with Seig or maybe they just see these machines as better offerings than what Seig has. They don't by chance list a larger version, a PM 30 class machine perhaps.

That is exactly what I want! Do not want to take a chance on the pm20, the Lmt25 is out of stock and I just do t want the long table of the 0704. Short table 0704 is what I want, short of that it would be the LMS mini.

    Thanks!

A short table 30 would be good too. For me at least.

That's the PM30MV which has a table as long as the g0704.

No I mean pm20 sized table.
Waiting to hear back from Lathemaster on their lathe, 0704 table but I get the sense it is the best prepped one.

Definitely looking forward to seeing the short table 0758. Holding off on ordering anything to see what lm says on inventory and pending the newer grizzly. Too little info on the pm, to me it looks like same quality as the 0704 with some differences (maybe dealings or little stuff) and less support for parts. Shame too cause I like the pm20 table size.

Will be the the LMS or the new 0758 (hey short table 0704) For me as suspect as I anticipate lathemaster not having inventory for months.
If anyone feels buying PM (quality what even that means with machines at this level) over Grizzly is a worthwhile endeavor speak up.

?there is no table as short as on the pm20 available anywhere for the 30 sized mill.
The lathemaster table is the same as the g0704, you're right in that they have inventory trouble, they are out more often than they are in.

Yep dang shame cause that lathemaster is the only one I would do the longer table with. Ohh well a short table 0704 is a hole that is being filled by grizzly giving an option to the pm20mv and allows one to skip the optima and other similar ones like busy bee that are outside the us. I suspect it will be more popular than the 0704. We'll see.

Don't count on it, most of us are looking for as much travel as we can get.

Grizzly is expecting the G0758 in April.

The price is $895 for G0758 and the optional stand is T26612 for $159.95. Price is right and you don't have to get the stand.
Assuming it is a short table 0704, it represents an option between the X2 and the BF25 sized mills.

If it is from Weiss and not Sieg the X2 sized mill guys may opt for this instead.

Does anyone know anything more about the G0758 besides what's in the catalog? I think it's a variant of the Weiss WMD16 (which you might call a BF16?). Is the BF16 slightly smaller all around than a BF20?

I'm seriously considering the G0758 for my first mill. I was torn between the cheaper and quieter LMS mini mill (a Sieg SX2LF) and the larger, more capable, pricier Grizzly G0704. Plus the G0704 comes with a table that I don't really want. The G0758 slots in between them nicely and is only a $80 more than the LMS option. Plus the table is optional.

There's no off-the-shelf CNC kit for the G0758 yet so I'd have to wait to do CNC or adapt the G0704 CNC designs from Hoss -- a slower process but probably a better learning experience.

I noted this last week here.

I'm with you. It is on grizzly a site but they said they expect them I. April. Of course it could be longer. I did not want to wait so i got the lms. It arrived 2 days ago. The ways are like a file, gibs don't fit properly, table binds, pulleys are off center... Pretty much what I expected on any low cost Chinese mill. I planned on completely redoing it so none of that bothers me. Infact I prefer it that was as opposed to a mill the "looks" finished but is in fact worse off. The web is filled with those accounts.

On the lms it is pretty much what I expected so I am happy with it, I made a bunch of pieces, small stuff. It had plenty of power and is really quiet. I'd do it again and I'd recommend it also but the new grizzly has me curious. I did not want to wait though, I will watch for your progress.

    Best of luck!
