I like my 2-ton shop crane! Re: the wheels, many say that wheels under a mill reduce stability unacceptably. I'm hoping they're wrong. Would this be OK for an SX-3, as long as the use is moderately slow and light-duty?

I get it, just stop sleeping at night, turn the bedroom into a work shop, and look at all the extra time you have to design/build... BRILLIANT!

Yeah HF was the first place I went but saved $44 with the ebay find for pretty much the same thing.

The mobile base under the stand isn't the most rigid but there are better ones out there or you can make your own like many do with the heavy duty casters.
I'd be embarrassed to say how little time I actually put into this stuff, I watch way more baseball.

I believe this is the same one I have, and yes, it's "wobbly" as hell, but still very useful.

I actually also liked the idea of a mobile base so went with this, but blocked it up with steel to get it off the base wheels and so called "stabilizers". (Those 2 little screw down knobs that are supposed to keep it from bouncing around).

I'm very happy with it now, but it takes a little fooling around with the shims to get it just right. Nothing worse that having it tilt around on you.

Yeah those lockdown knobs are useless, way to much slop in them.
I'll bolt it to the floor once I get done doing mods to the mill.

@Hoss: There is a danger of spending way too much time on the little things that may or may not make a difference. Your approach over the years (from what little I have read) seems to be to think, try, copy, innovate, improve, help others, etc. I like this approach, as it allows lots to be accomplished and learned in a relatively small amount of time, and it probably gives you satisfaction to help others and learn from them as well. With all that to say for yourself, what's wrong with a little baseball?

Hahaha.. No, not an accent per se. But Im telling you, just like I said, you could be my Bro-in-law on that vid if I didnt know any better. And he has a way of talking (I guess thats what I meant), the sound of his voice and yeah, Im sure a lil accent in there. Thats why I did some looking around.

Still waiting on my sis to respond to my email, she is prolly busy with the retired life. You guys ever tap the trees for maple? My sis and Gary used to boil barrels full of runoff to make syrup and at xmas I would get a nice pint of the good stuff. They haven't done it in a couple of years. Its a lot of work and they are getting older.

I thought it was very cool to see that you are from the same part of town. Again, small world.

FYI? Love the work you are doing here. JR

mmmm, that syrup sounds good, I just have a white oak and pine tree. Been meaning to gather some acorns, leach them and eat them, maybe this year.
I get comments about my accent a bit on youtube but I just don't hear it. lol

Yeah they've been having winning records before the all-star break, the best this year, but for some reason it all goes south after.
