Not owning a machine and with zero milling experience,
I stumbled across a blog by Tom Meeks. His lessons on a program called Cubify Invent sold me on Alebre. Cubify Invent (free trial 7-30 days depending on your luck, or costs 49.00) is a striped down version of Alibre PE (single part creation only, no pdf exporting, and no putting parts in motion). I've been waiting for the 2013 version of PE.

Look on the right side of the web page for Tom's tutorials. As an old guy with zero CAD experience, these actually made sense to me the way he shows them:

A second positive vote to CAM packages from Veritec's. Cut2D is blindingly simple, Cut3D is also nice. Trails versions are out there on their page. I have not run a mill but do feel these are all I need and plan to purchase the Tormach package that offers these as a pair.

If you decide to sell your Alibre software, I'm just west of Tulsa.
