Lightbulb Can we use normal LCD monitor in 2500B/C heidenhain control

    Hi everyone...
one of our Heidenhain 2500C screen is not working. its a BF110 Flat 2 colour screen..
so i was plannig to change it with LCD desktop monitor, because it can turn out a cheap affair.....
OEM screen i have checked out on internet cost around 999 euros. approx 60000 INR. but if i can replace it with LCD monitor than it can be done just in 5000 INR, 14" LCD monitor cost and a cable...
    Cable required..
Two row 25 pin D-Sub connector to VGA port connector.....
Main problem is VGA cable has RED, BLUE, GREEN pins with other pins, But Heidenhain screen has only one Video out pinto support video output..
Has anyone tried it. I am still planning. IF somebody has tried already than i am curious to know the result....
Suggest me friends if somebody was already into it....

Pin out I just used to graft a 15" HP monitor into our tnc426, which I think is very similar.

Heidenhain TNC 425 LCD connection pinout and wiring @ pinoutsguide.com

Works great although the power supplied through the controller isn't enough (amps) to power the monitor we used.

    kevin thanks for reply..
But, is the VDU connector is same in 425 and 2500B....
In 2500B it has a 15 pin Double row connector. Like we use for RS232 port...
and i chacked the pin diagram it doesnt have a RED, Green , Blue....

Ours did have RGB and a 15 pin 2 row. You are more concerned with the numbers than the colors. Take apart a standard video cable male end. Take care to save the pins and label each lead per the number it is assigned in the connector. Re-solder the pins to the wires as necessary, and insert them into the 15 pin 2-row female connector per the pin out diagram above. Keep the wires isolated and wrap the whole unit with elastic tape to keep it together.
This is what we did, If I wanted to go back to the original monitor or buy the replacement from Heidenhain ($3k USD, which isn't a bad price considering the work in making a new faceplate, wiring, machine downtime, etc.) we didn't have to cobble up the wiring or enclosure.

If the 2500[nee tnc360] is like earlier control it bears no relation to vga.

TNC145,150,151 are an inverted MGA signal. Too slow a synch rate for most modern monitors

I can't comment on the other controls I'm not familiar with them. He does mention it's a VGA bf-110, ours was a bc-110b. Not sure of the similarities or differences. Just passing along what we did.

    I don't think so.
See this thread, it's about a Haas but I think the principle is the same.

No, i am very sure you won't get a computer LCD to work.
Computer LCD usually sync 30khz and above, heidenhain 2500 has a 22khz sync.
An industrial LCD will work, which i have done a few modification.

THere is an lcd screen available with a low synch rate, about 14khz iirc.
I`ve used them on Mazak M2`s and I know a guy who`s used them on Deckels.

Here`s a link to the screen I use.I don`t know if it will work with a Heidenhain as I`ve never checked the Heid outputs.
The model I use is the 12.1".Click on it and there`s a downloadable pdf with the frequencies in it.

Expanding picture is usually the the EHT supply is too low to the final anode of the tube. Possible cause, damp in the LOPT (line output transformer) but could be many factors. Leave in a warm dry place for a few days and see what happens.
