Some background....Had this mini-mill for around six years. Bought an Acme lead screw based CNC conversion kit from LMS around three years ago but never got around to finishing the installation. Only did the X and Y axes. Wasn't satisfied with the performance or the Z-axis design.

Finally decided to start over from scratch using Roton ballscrews and ballnuts. Tried to make this simple using on hand tools and materials as much as possible. Here are the results starting here;
