This is how I understand the three pots, please re-educate me if I am wrong. I need a scientific approach to tuning the drives for my servos, righ now still a bit hap hazard doing it.

Limit - overall power to motor

Damp - braking of motor
Gain - acceleration of motor or "stiffness which i have no idea what that means

Damp and Gain should be close together to quiet the dithering of the motor, too close and get osilation. Gain too high get osilation.

I try to set the gain damp as high as can without noise then back off both, then lower damp to aviod osilation. I read a post about walking gain and damp up. firt gain then back gain off, then move damp up, rinse and repeat is this right?

Is this correct. I am adjusting my Z axis it is a bit tricky. I notice when motor stops after rapid move it dithers a bit, also there is quite a bit of ticking coming off the servos, I hear some people can get them very quiet. any tips , how to tune appreciated.
