I am building a robust but small router. 16"x10"x4" HobbycncPro 4X control, 200oz Motors and Mach3 software
All aluminium construction with a solid ali plate table and have been toying with the idea that the forth axis normally a rotary head on one end and a tailstock the other.
If I could also adapt a small lathe type headstock with a variable speed motor instead of the rotary head and mount the cutting tool on the Z axis (set but not moving) and I could then turn small parts.
Any guys out there know of modules from small lathes, like a headstock with variable speed motor as a unit that could be adapted by mounting directly on the table table of the router.
I would think that Mach3 Lathe or Mill controls could be used depending on the setup.
I need a small CNC lathe but my router has shredded my budget.
Food for thought over xmas.
Seasons Greetings to All
