Re: Tool Nose Radius Comp Calculator (only G1)

hello if you wish to provide an alternative, and people to use it, it must behave faster than whatever it is out there, or at least faster the common methods, and more affordable comparing it to specialized methods ...

for example : if someone enters all those coordiantes inside igf, will definetly get the code faster

yes, you can do the math, but, you need to beat current methods

xls is ok for some stuff, but for rad comp, igf is faster ...

think about a method that is faster than igf, like an okuma dedicated G-code converter, with fast cad

if control unit hasn't radius comp spec, you can't use G41 or G42 codes.
IGF generate code with G41 or G42.

Some control units may not support radius compensation.
and igf is not installed in some control units.

aha, i see : what do you think about a macro inside autoCAD ? thus to draw it there, click a button, choose radius + P, and generate compensated code ?

    find a sexy L . I . S . P teacher; she will help you, unless you don't alter the deal

or try your luck with software dealer ?

with help from a trained person, i guess this could be done in a few days

until then, stick to xls / kindly

    Hello kurmay,
I haven't waded through your math, but at a glance at the Part Profile and the Post Output (see attached below),

    Attachment 406470

I can't see how you get there. The Radius of the Tool and how the tool is set (Orientation - Tool Type) have to be considered; I don't see where this has been specified.

Following is a line drawing using your Profile Points.

    Attachment 406472

Given that you're using G42 in your example, the Tool Path is for an OD Turning Operation. The move from X100 Z850 to X200 Z 850 is perpendicular to the Machine's Centre Line, therefore, there will be no Offset in Z for that move. Accordingly, if a typical OD Turning Tool set by the Leading Edge of the Cutting Insert in Z and the point on the Insert closest to the Machine Centre Line in X is used, then the Z coordinate for this move will be Z850. However, your example shows a Z output for this move as Z870, suggesting that at least the Centre of the TNR in Z is being used with a TNR of 20. This logic doesn't work with subsequent moves. Perhaps you can step the Forum through how you arrived at the Output you have?

    Bill

You must look TOOL DATA section on bottom of excel spreadsheet

    Hello kurmay,
OK, I see that now. However, as stated in my previous Post, G42 and the direction of travel defined by the profile points indicates an OD Turning Op, one in which setting the tool as P1 would be rather obscure; hence my difficulty in reconciling your Post Output values.
