    Z axis stepper hot

Noticed the top of the Z motor is hot to the touch, around 140f. This is after only a couple minutes of use. Is this normal or is something wrong? Fairly new 770.
    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Z axis stepper hot

for stepper motors 140 F is not very hot , its only 60C
depending on which manufacturers data sheet you look at
    stepper motors can run at 70 to 80 C = 158 to 176 F

its some thing that takes most people by surprise
as they are usually more use to universal or servo motors that take more electrical power the more they are mechanically loaded

with stepper motors the electrical power input is controlled by the stepper driver
unless the driver reduces the motor current when the motor is idle
the motor current stays the same even if its stalled
