Im looking to purchase a 4axis cnc that will be mainly used for jewlery type work so a tiny size is not a problem..lots of wax cutting but id like the option to cut soft metals on occasion...

Since precision is not a huge factor but it would be nice, im wondering if you guys could suggest a machine for under 3000??

Im finding this to be a challange and im very close to pulling the trigger on a 3040 cnc but i am very scared because im reading about lots of problems and im a beginner so this concerns me.

Id love to hear what you guys would suggest for a good quality 4 axis machine that can cut metal on occasion that also has a small footprint for a tight budget.

A final plus would be someway to eventually upgrade said machine to a 5th axis but that is last on the list of priorities.

I'd say go for a Taig mill. It has no problem cutting metals including steel, and for jewelry-scale items its small size shouldn't be a problem. The 4th axis (actually made by Sherline, but adapted by Taig) is a solidly made unit, and it comes with an adjustable tailstock.
