    3d pocket surface creation

    Hello,

How can i create a 3d surfaced pocket without lofting the two geometries. With lofting the two surfaces and a guided line I cannot get the two to smoothly blend together. I tried a loft and a large fillet at the bottom but from the picture you can still see the bottom sketch.

This should be something simple to answer.

Not a solidworks user but I would revolve the cross section around the center line.

That would be one way. Create an axis in the center line of your pocket. Create a plane vertical to the top surface, including the axis. Sketch the outside geometry of ONE side of the pocket and close the sketch at the axis. Use Revolve Cut with a 360 degree sweep to create the pocket using the axis as the center of rotation, and the sketch as the shape to revolve.
