    Air on a CNC lathe

There is a recurring job on a CNC lathe here that uses an operator operated pedal to blast air on the tool. I am thinking that a solenoid wired into the control would be a better option. Has anyone out there seen, heard or done something like this?

Yes. Chuck airblow, tool airblow, all common. Not using coolant? Can piggy back off the coolant pump contactor coil with a toggle switch, then to a solenoid. A check valve on the coolant pump and plumb the air right to the coolant line.

Thank you for your reply. I took another look at the job when it came around and decided that coolant was entirely feasible, and ordered the correct tooling to make it so.
