    New Enclosure

When I upgraded to the series 3 motors I decided it was time to upgrade my enclosure as well since I had to remove it anyways.

My original enclosure worked great but there where a few improvements needed such as a pop out in the front and easy to remove access panels.

Here is the basic design idea.

And here is what I have done so far.

Remote controls is a nice touch.
The pole workstation is also a great idea

The pole workstation is just temporary as it used to be and will be again attached to the enclosure. Not sure how I am going to do that exactly yet.

Here is the thread for my original enclosure.

Looking Good! As compared to the old pix, you appear to have done massive upgrades to that machine. Wish I could affort an ATC. A quick question for you. Where did you source your pole work station components? They look fairly easy to fabricate unless I'm missing something.
Great design on the new enclosure!

Now that I did the series 3 upgrade I think I have pretty much every option.

I do not recall where I got the pole setup as it was quite a few years ago. I will be selling it once I am done with the enclosure though.

    Re: New Enclosure

Finished the main structure. I have been debating if I should cover the side sections on the front with sheet metal, PolyC, etc so I covered one half with cardboard to get a feel for it. The right side will be covered up mostly with the monitor, control panel, and keyboard anyways so I am sure that side will just be sheet metal.

Have you made any more progress on the enclosure? Looks like it will be very nice once completed.

Yes.. I have the monitor, keyboard, etc that I want to use now. The next step is getting the front sheet metal and doors done which will happen as soon as I can finish up the designs for the doors once I get the door tracks installed and take some measurements.

I cannot wait to see this completed. An enclosure is my next upgrade and you'll be hard pressed to come in at a price higher than tormach.
First question, that looks like a steel structure if so what are your plans for finishing?

I am going to assume you mean paint, etc.. I plan to have it sand blasted and powder coated once all done.

Any progress on this? I'm hoping to get my machine to the new house soon and will be adding an enclosure of some kind. I'm leaning toward Mooser's design,

but this one is super nice also.

    Re: New Enclosure

I should have some new updates in about a week or so. The guys I had setup to do the cutting and forming of the sheet metal decided to take a month longer than the time I was quoted.. Hopefully they are all done to spec and things go smooth once I receive them.

Sounds like your sheetmetal fab guys are a bit like some of the folks I've worked for. "Oh, it's just a guy with a hobby...he can wait". Ugh

How did you seal the gap around the Y axis motor? Can you show a photo of what you have done there? Thanks

    Re: New Enclosure

I have not sealed the gap and have no plans to do so as it has never been a issue.

I finally got my sheet metal and made some progress.. please ignore my welding skills.. or lack of.

Set the touchscreen and keyboard in place for pic. The mill controls will go below keyboard.
