Which mill to buy for CNC Later

Ok been looking on Grizzly's website for a week now, saved up enough side job
money to get a mill. BUT........... which one is better in the $1500 price range
for CNC later? The grizzly G1006,or the G0705? The G0705 has a bigger cross slide (9") which I really like and a stand. But the Range of speed's is a little low. Anyway, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Richard

Neither, for cnc you really want a square column mill like the g0704.
While some have cnced round column mills like the 1006 and 0705, the quill travel
is all you'll have for z travel.
keeping z location by raising the head on the round column if you need more height
during a job is the main downside.
If you really need 9 inches Y, look into the zx45 for around $1700.

Let me stick my 2 cents in here.

Do a lot of homework and be patient.

If I had it all to do over again I would have saved a lot of money and
aggravation, and it still would have taken the same amount of time.

I know what you mean. It's like how many feature's can I find and stuff it into a mill for
$1500, and make sure I got the right one for me. I'll mostly be doing aluminum plate up to 8"
wide to 3/4" thick. And to get a dovetail column for that money with a 2HP motor your looking at over $2000. I also looked looked at the Grizzly G0619. The Y cross travel is just really short. Hey Hoss how do you like your G0704.

I love it, cuts like a dream.
I have over 9 inches of y travel on it too.

    Hi Richard,

I just ordered a pcnc770 today. So, my Enco ZX-45 is for sale now. It's like brand new, I barely used it. It has the stand, an Anilam Wizard 411 DRO, Phase2 8" rotary table and a Kurt D675 6" vise. I can make it fit into your budget ;-)
