Ultimax 3 control.

I have to cut an O ring groove around an oil hole in a bunch of 2014 ally parts. The groove is 2mm wide and 1.5mm deep so I don't really want to plunge the cutter in and cut using arc segments for fear of breaking the tiny end mill, even though it is centre cutting, I've only got one left. I've been trying to figure out the Helix command as I've never used this before. I can get it to work (in fresh air) but it starts at the full depth and then feeds up as it moves around the circle. How do I get it to go the other way, start at the top and feed down into the job as it cuts the circle.

I wanted to use the Helix to rough out the groove down to depth and then the arc segments to finish the groove at full depth. I'm using a 1.5mm end mill so I can climb mill around the inside and outside edges of the groove to clean it up.

If I understand you correctly you using conversational programming?
You will have to enter the start and bottom Z value and when asked if same bottom Z value is to be used throughout the block select NO.

Got it, thanks. I was filling in the block start segment in the same way I would for a line arc contour, with a Z start, Z bottom and a peck depth.
