okay whats the first thing you do with bobcad when you open it and start on a part???

In all my training...it is stuck in my head...so i thought i would ask you guys... before i tell the answer i thin is hilarious and correct


BTW...i am now upgraded to V26 and really liking it!

assuming you have a file already saved...and starting working on geometry.....

if we have been told once...we have witnessed it thousand times....

my answer is as I just watched about 25 videos AL D put up on afterdark...is well it is burned into my brian now.... "create a layer" LOL

I do this alot but AL has GOT TO BE the KING AL MIGHTY!

anyway...thanks goes out to AL and his dedication on the vids...they REAAAALLLY help out alot.... and is a huge plus for BOBCAD!

The very first thing you do in Bobcad is click the annoying splash screen to get rid of it

Stop working and push the wheelbarrow full of cash i saved on the last job to the bank. Then i spend most of the day loading the. New jobs cash into the empty wheelbarrow. Then i finish the job and get ready for tomortows trip to the bank....

A new layer never hurts but you must know why you are creating it and for what, just creating a new layer will not help someone who doesn't know why they need it ;-)

my response is a long running giggle from us long standing members...AL is always adding layers so I thought I would poke him a little...



this first thing i do when i open v26 is smile...and think damn this is nice...and V27 is going to be the shiat!

I do like layers and tend to over use them. It's just nice to clear the screen of geometry and you work though stages of process. Even thought I know lots of sort cuts I don't always use them.... It's kinda a feel you get for the software and flow....

As far as what you do when you first open BobCAD.....As a fresh install, I always customize my screen...

The first thing I usually do after the splash screen is File --> open

Since I have Solidowrks and Autocad at my disposal I am always importing something to work on, I very rarely draw anything in Bodcad. But I do have a Autocad drawing template I use that has layers already on it for my Bobcad parts, so when I import it the layers are already there.

First thing I do is the opposite, File - Close. 99% of the time I'm either going to work on a previous file or I want to open a fresh model created in another software.
