    Hello from new member.

    Hi,
I'm a new member located in Melbourne and thought I'd say hello rather than just prowling around the forums.

I'd like anyone's opinions or advice on some thoughts that I have. I've just come back from the machinery expo in Melbourne and are examining the options for purchasing CNC machinery. Your answers and opinions are welcomed!

So here are my plans and thoughts.

    1) I want to machine items like motorcycle cylinder heads. Alloy construction quite complex shapes.
    2) What are some dependable brands. My main viewing has been with HAAS and they seem to be quite visible in the marketplace. This could be because they're good machine builders or have a great marketing department.
    3) Can a horizontal machine do what a vertical machine can in regards to my heads?
    4) If I was to stick my toe in by buying a second hand machine, how old can I go before they are not capable of running CAD/CAM? What would you recommend?

Thanks for your help. I apologise if I appear to have little idea.

    Cheers,
    EVO.
