When using said caliper for read outs, what if any, does one cut off to mount them? As a casual user of my mill they are a cheap way to accomplish a DRO system. Before I spend some money on them I'd like some opinions from those who have used them.
When using said caliper for read outs, what if any, does one cut off to mount them? As a casual user of my mill they are a cheap way to accomplish a DRO system. Before I spend some money on them I'd like some opinions from those who have used them.
I did one axis this way - I actually cut the jaws off, drilled a hole in the other end so I could mount it but to be honest, it was a lot easier and cleaner to buy the chinese scales that are made for DROs. That is what I did on the other axis. They aren't that much more than the calipers.
