A few days ago we had complete failure of the CRT on our 2000 VF-0. Prior to this it was intermittent.

Viewing the rear of the CRT on the left is metal box around the power transformer. On the front side of this box is a small electronic assembly, probably a voltage regulator, that is using the box as a heat sink.

A three conductor ribbon cable is soldered to a small PC board on the assembly. All three of these solder joints had fatigue failed from machine vibration.

Resoldered the three joints and it works fine.

If you have similar problem this could save you a lot of money.

Basically it is a bad design for a vibration environment.
