How do you enter [ ] symbols into a program

I am trying to adjust a sub program loader call out, and I can not for the life of me get the [ brackets to show up. They are on the number four key, but if I hit shift, then four I'll end up with a ( symbol. I had a guy try to show me before, but he "thought" he knew how to do it.

I'm running an 18i-T fanuc, I simply input the value into the program that was needed, this will work for now, but if anybody teaches that position, it will not use the teach point, it will just use the value in the program.

    Thanks for any help.

Set param. 3204 bit #0 to

    Set param. 3204 bit #0 to 0
When a small keyboard is used, characters “[” and “]” are:
    0 : Used as “[” and “]”.
    1 : Used as “(” and “)”.

I looked at that parameter, and it is different, I also looked it up in a manual, I'm at home now, but the letters above the 0 bit were different on the screen, then they were in the manual. I don't remember what they were, I was trying to leave, and honestly I've been thinking about shooting a deer. But I will be looking into more on monday.

    Thanks again.

I don't have any "i" boards but I think you're pushing the wrong button. On our 16T and 21T boards its shift I (for "[") and shift K (for "]").... Unless you have the small keyboard.. then parameter 3204 would change that (as viorel26 mentioned)....
It's just a part..... cutter still goes round and round....

Fanuc puts different keyboards on 18i controls, depending on the CRT/LCD size. I'm looking at a graphic with [ on the 4 and ] on the 5 keys as we speak.

FanucIssues, If you press SHIFT 7, do you get an "A"? Is SHIFT 6 a space? Viorel is correct. Check Par #3204 bit 0. If is 1 now, you'll get ( when you press SHIFT 4, not [, and ) when you press SHIFT 5 instead of ]. Set it to 0 and you should get [ and ]. You might also want to set #3204 bit 2 = 1. This will give you EXTended characters, allowing you to enter ( and ) with soft keys.
