    Haas SL-20 Thermal Comp

    Just wondering what others are running their thermal compensation % at

    we normally turn off all thermal comp parameters on haas lathes

    Why would you do that? We just got our lathe a couple weeks ago, and I am looking at trying to use it myself. It's a babysitting job watching the parts for the first hour or so while the machine warms up in the morning. And I don't always have time to do it. If it works, it would be of great help.

    Some models of Haas machines have shipped with Thermal compensation active from the factory when not required. Please follow the steps < keystroke > below

    1. Before changing any parameters you should backup your parameters
    Insert floppy in drive press < LIST PROG > < PARAM / DGNOS > top of the display
    Should show “ Parameter “ Type your < serialno.par > < F2 > to send to disk.
    If your machine is not equipped with floppy drive go to step 2

    2. Record write down the Parameter current values in the table below. Also check that you have the original factory parameter list printout in your manual. To search for parameters, Type the Parameter No. < > Cursor < ▼ > down

    3. Unlock parameters Press < Setng / Graph > Top of the screen should display “Settings” < 7 > Cursor <▼ > down “ Parameter lock” Cursor < ►> right to choose
    “ OFF “ < Write / Enter > to select OFF

    4. Change the Parameters listed to the values in the “ Set to Value “ column
    < Emergency Stop > is required to change parameters, leave emergency stop pressed in.

    5. < Param / Dgnos > top of the display “ Parameter “ Please be extremely careful to change only the parameters listed, before pressing “ write / enter “ please confirm you are changing the correct parameter.
    Search carefully parameter no. < > Cursor < ▼ > down
    Confirm the correct parameter is highlighted < 0 > < Write / Enter >

    6. Lock parameters Press < Setng / Graph > Top of the screen should display “Settings” < 7 > Cursor <▼ > down “ Parameter lock” Cursor < ►> right to choose
    “ ON “ < Write / Enter > to select ON

    7. Recheck parameters are correct

    8. Record the following data
    < Dgnos > Cursor < Page Dn > till yo see “ VER _____________ software “
    Processor temp _____________
    X temp _________ or [ ] no display
    Z temp__________ or [ ] no display

    9. Power control off, wait 8 seconds and Power on

    10. Machine parts and check for thermal growth of part accuracies
