Is one home switch + soft limits enough? (X2)

    Hi!

I have almost completed my X2 CNC build. I use CNC Fusion ball screws and Keeling stepper motors. I have a Gecko 540 and Mach 3 on an old XP machine that I have refurbished here.

I just need to mount limit hardware (swithces) to avoid machine damage.

A question regarding limit swithces to the X2 people on this forum:

Is one limit switch per axis + soft limits in Mach 3 enough?
Hoss seems to use only one switch per axis: home switches and soft limits - YouTube

In case its ok with only three switches (one on X, one on Y, one on Z) it saves me a lot of hassle and wiring!

What do you think? How have you done it on your machines. (Yes I tried a search).

Works for me and saves the limited number of inputs for other useful things!

Excellent. Would you have some pictures showing your mounting arrangement of the switches?

It works fine as long as you remember to leave the soft limits on.
Super X3. 3600rpm. Sheridan 6"x24" Lathe + more. Three ways to fix things: The right way, the other way, and maybe your way, which is possibly a faster wrong way.

I prefer to do it this way now and leave soft limits off.
    Projects
One switch per x and y, 2 z though one will do, all NC wired in series.
One input needed, each switch is the home and limit for both ends of travel.
