    New to 4th axis standered

Im trying to make a simple part on V28. Im using the Haas post and the code is coming in as B axis not A axis. Here's a small example to look at am I using the the wrong post?

    N10 X-1.1073 B167.778
    N11 X-1.1164 B167.4
    N12 X-1.1243 B166.748
    N13 X-1.1364 B165.201

    Thank you

    Hi Tom

Open your PP in Notebook and go look at the following Blocks :-

    690. Prefix for X Rotation Move? "A"

    694. Prefix for Y Rotation Move? "B"

Check what they are set to and think about how your machine is setup and how you have the program machining the part, if you have the 4th axis rotating around the Y axis then it should be a "B" prefix, if as most folks do it rotating along the X axis then it should be an "A".

Just try altering the one you think you are setup for and have a look in your BobCAD Machine Definition settings under the "CAM Default > Current Settings> Machine Definition"

    Hope that helps

    Regards
    Rob

Those are correct and I checked the Machine Definition and it say A.

I can only think that you have set up your program to machine in the Y axis, can you post a screen shot of your job ?

Sorry, forgot to add, have you checked Block 10 in your PP

    10. Rotary axis index string
    n,"A",rotary_angle

What PP are you using, can you Zip a copy of it and upload it here ?

For the best answer, zip up a your bbcd file, the post processor you are using AND the machine file for the machine you have selected in the bbcd file, located here:

    C:\BobCAD-CAM Data\BobCAD-CAM V28\MachSim\******

Where the folder is the same name as the machine you have defined, and attach the zipped file here.............

Re: New to 4th axis standered

    Hi Tom

Looked at your PP, Blocks 10 and 17 appear to be reversed, see below for how they should be :-

    10. Primary rotary axis index string ( output using output_rotary_angle variable )
    n,"A",rotary_angle

    17. Secondary rotary axis index string
    n, " B", second_rotary_angle

Your setting was "B" in Block 10 and "A" in Block 17, try the attached PP and see what you get, I have re-named it so it won`t overwrite you original PP when you "copy and paste" it into your PP folder

I have tried swapping them and the output does change fro a B** to an A** in the generated code so hopefully this will do it for you

    Regards
