So, first of all, I know we use an ancient version of mastercam but it's been working perfectly fine up until yesterday. For some reason, it will no longer open up. It stalls out when the splash screen says Reading key mapping file... and then eventually crashes.

I've tried uninstalling it, that didn't work. I saw something about the .net framework but couldn't find enough information to feel comfortable changing things around too much. I'm on my company computer and don't want to mess everything up. I also called Mastercam themselves... first of all, they weren't very polite. The guy asked what operating system we use... Windows 7 (I have no control) and his response was it doesn't work with windows 7... well then tell me why it's been working perfectly fine for the last 3+ years that I have been using it?

Anyway... any help would be appreciated. We're at a total standstill for our production and it's causing a major headache.

It is possible that a recent Windows update broke your Mastercam software.

Ask your IT to revert your PC back to the last working configuration.

It looks like there were some security updates installed last month, but the program just started having issues yesterday. They did recently implement a program called Cylance Protect, but our IT department says that isn't causing the issue (even though we already discovered it crashing our Rhinoceros program)

I'll give it a try but dealing with our IT is a nightmare. Wish me luck!
