    Puma 8HC tool setter useage

We have a Puma 8HC-3A, with Fanuc 15TF control. And NO MANUALS AT ALL.

The machine is running and we would like to use the tool setter arm for inputting offsets, but don't have a clue on how to do that.

With hydraulics off we can pull the tool setter arm down & observe the leds on the probe go on/off as we touch the probe surface. When the hydraulics power back on, the tool arm goes back into its retracted position, and we can not figure out how to get the arm down for measurements.

I have tried to execute all M codes from 06-99, but no action on the arm. Is there an M-code to lower the arm, so that the measurement process can be started?

Can anyone offer a detailed procedure to lower the arm, make measurements, and then input them?

    Cheers,
    Steve

The manuals can be purchased through your local Doosan Dealer.

Attached is an M-Code list from the era of your machine.

If the list does not get the arm to lower, give me your ladder version, and I can see what should make it work...and then be able to check if those items are functioning correctly.

    DHardt,

I'm talking with a Doosan dealer in Tulsa trying to get manuals.

On the M-code chart you sent I found that M80/81 lower/raise the tool setter arm. When I MDI in an M80, it lights the cycle start light & hangs there - waiting for the arm to go down? Which it does not do. After a reset, M81 flashes the cycle start light once.

I don't know how to get the ladder version, but the search procedure from the M-code list allowed me to find that M80 is in the ladder. So could it be as simple as solenoid not actuating to lower arm?

    Cheers,
    Steve

Give me the serial number and I'll let you know the Y-output to check and the Relay number, as well as the solenoid label...

    DHardt,

Thanks for the info. The Tulsa dealer came through with pdf's of operators manual, electrical manual, & parts manual.

That should be enough info for me to get this thing fixed.

    Cheers,
    Steve
