Intro to the forum and looking to purchase a CNC for mainly Acrylics!

    Heyo!

We are currently an at home business locatedin Toronto Canada that will soon move to a shop, and want to acquire a CNC table mainly for Acrylic work.

Our budget is around 30k and I think our best option is to buy used as we need to cut through 1" acrylic (thickest job we will need to do. Mostly will be working with 3/16" acrylic) for 4' x 8' sheets

Ive been doing some research and price quoting and found that AXYZ and Multicam are pretty good options. However, AXYZ is probably out of our price range and we can just barely afford the basic multicam unit without any tool change.

With that said, im leaning towards buying a used CNC instead but we are relatively new to the cnc world. As such, training, calibrating and troubleshooting are challenges that we are willing to face. However, im afraid that these costs of "fixing" an old machine will cost more than just purchasing a new one.

Any tips and advise is greatly appreciated!

Here is an example of one that we were looking at that was priced at 30k:

    HOLZ-HER Cosmec Fox 48 with V/T & T/C- 20064’ x 8’ CNC Router, ( 51' x 98")
    8.9HP HSD Spindle, 20,000 RPM -
6 Position Tool Changer – Racked ISO 30 Tool Holders. Comes with laptop and design software.
Vacuum Table, (4 Zone) - singularly activated.
    Servo motors on all axis.
10 HP Becker Pump. The industry standard.
Automatic oiling systems for all axis

    @Flazky,

Why not to buy the laser engraving/cutting machine? It is very good to cut the Acrylic. we have the laser machine1309, the worktable is 51” x 35”. Lon"g life span laser tube 130W. if you want to cut 1" thicknest acrylic, it had better to use 150-180W laser tube.

    Standard for our machine:
    -Laser engraver machine
    -Honeycomb table
    -Knife table
    -Air compressor
    -Water chiller(CW-5000)
    -Exhaust Fan
-Laser tube(130W long life laser tube)
    -Lasercut software and key
    -High speed USB cord
    -One laser head

Most of our work needs to be cemented together and i Have issues with the acrylic crazing with we do a laser finish.

Cnc'ed pieces do not have crazing issues.

hello. i have checked carefully your requirements. i think for cutting acrylic, common model 1325 is ok for you,. why do you choose ATC machine? it cost much. the ATC cnc machine is maily used for making wood door and cabinet.

Indeed, as it seems, the ATC offers more prospective options for your shop.
However, obviously its a great waste for the use of acrylic cutting.
Meanwhile the challenges of the ATC is another very important factor.
Acrylic cutting will not require more variety of tools than the single or double flute spiral router bits.
A regular 4'*8' CNC router with HSD air cooling manual changer, vaccum hold down table as well as dust collection system will fit your shop very well.

We have decided to go with either a Multicam 1000 series or an AXYZ 4008. Both come with ATC as we will be cutting, engraving and polishing the acrylic too. Does anyone have an idea of a good price to be paying for one of these? I am in the process of negotiating a price but want to know what is considered a competitive price. Right now bothr want around 68k for their machine.

    Specs of the Multicam:

    50 x 100" Work Area
Multicam EZ Control and EZ Suite
Colombo 5HP ISO 25 Pneumatic Chuck RV90 Air cooled
ATC - 6 Linear Tool Changer
    High Voolume Dust Collector
    Z Axis Screw Ball Upgrade
    4 Zone Phenolic (Vacuum)
    8.5HP 2 Stage Regernative Blower
    Enroute Basic 5

    AXYZ Machine Specs
    4008 Series with Vacuum Deck
    - 60" x 96" Process Table
    - Singled Welded Tubular steel construction
    - 7 Tool Automatic Changer
    - 10.8 HP Quick Release Spindle
    - Pressure foot - High Capacity
    - Pressure Foot Bellows Seals
    - Vortex Cold Gun
    - A2MC Control System
    - Samrt Console
    - V CArd Pro
    - Installation
    - Delivery
    - Training - On site
    - ESA Cert
    - Busch 9 HP Mink Vacuum With start
    - 3x Automatic Popup pins

Forgot to mention both machines are new from their manufacturers.
