    Wiring two e-stops

I want to use two e-stop switches on my machine.

I've got one on the enclosure wired up to the Gecko 540 as suggested by the mfr. working perfectly. However I want another switch where I usally observe the cutting, how do I wire this second switch? I have tried "inline", but then neither work.

    Ideas?

Is your existing e-stop normally closed (zero ohms when in "operate" position)? That is the normal condition. If it is, then you wire them in series.

If it is normally open (infinite ohms when in "operate", zero ohms when in "Stop"), then you wire them in parallel.

It almost sounds like you may have the original N.C. and maybe have add a N.O. in series, or do you mean when you push either one you do not get an E-Stop?

Hm, both my switches are normally closed, why it didn't work when I wired them up earlier is beyond me. I'll have to try again.

Let me wire them up and post a photo for you guys to look at. Electronics is not my strongest field.

    Thanks for now.

Were they both maintained stop/twist release or is the new one momentary?

Don't be too hard on yourself. Anyone who claims never to have made an oops like that is probably telling a tall one.

If it makes you feel any better in the last 2 weeks I've "magic smoked" a case fan and a solid state relay. I've gotten into the habit of ordering two of everything.
