Trying to simply flip the work piece

I am hoping that someone could assist me please. Any help appreciated.

I have milled the top of this work piece

I was hoping that I could simply flip the piece over in the machine and mill the bottom

But I cannot turn the piece over in BC. I have tried many ideas to rotate the work piece in BC but have failed. I need to simply rotate it 180 degrees in the X plane I think or Y.

I know I am doing something wrong and I'm getting frustrated.:nono:

You should be able to go into Utilities and select Rotate. Enter 180. into the X box and select your part and click OK, then click on the OK in the Rotate box.

    Hi Nivlek,
You will want to select your geometry and do an entity summary on it and note the value that is the "half difference" of both the Y and Z values.. Then start the rotate command and choose the "enter" option for the origin. Enter the 180 in the X rotation field, then enter the Y and Z field center values.. Your part will then rotate around it's center, in place.

    In this simple example, it would be Y = 1 and Z = -1

    Dear All
I am a bit thick about this but I have tried watching the training videos and read the BOBCAD training professor. On the video and within the manual, there are exercises to perform 4 axis indexing. All the samples given are the same shapes rolled around a cylinder shape.

I have a four sided article that the sides are the same. But the top and bottom are different.

The attached 3 .pdf files show the top, bottom and front, which shows the general shape.

Could someone please advise me in laymen’s terms, the way to rotate the piece and machine it?

I can machine the top but I cannot figure out how to rotate the piece and machine the bottom. it is only the top and bottom that I wish to machine.

I am running Bobcad 24, Build 376. I am running a taig machine with the 4th axis ability.

I have the solid works drawing but it is 570kb and I cannot up load it here.

I have also tried to attach the NC file for the top machined but that has also failed here.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you BurrMan for the advice, however I'm currently in a country that does not allow youtube. This is why I brought the training CD's.

I will be back in Australia next week and will look at youtube there.

    regards

    That works.

I will watch it a few times and let it sink in. Then I will try myself.

    Thanks again
