    Cool complicated surfaces

    Hello everyone!
I am looking for a function in solidworks which is similar to projection function in Inventers.I don't know whether solidworks has or has not, because I want to snap special points (end, center, mid points, etc) belong to previously created objects in a new sketch. The function is very useful when we wanna made guide path for new lofts, sweeps. If it hasn't got the function, how do you solve. I am so confused about this problem:idea:. Hope to recieve your help soon!
    Thank and best regards,

progiang can you give us some illustrations. I have no doubt it can be done in Solidworks, just not sure exactly what you are asking. If you want to constrain a sketch just click the end point or item you want to constrain and then other item you want to constrain it to, and add a relation.

Similar to snaps but called 'constraints' in Solidworks.

"Convert entity" will project a profile from previously created geometry to the current sketch.

Otherwise, as Jerry says, you can just select the existing geometry directly while sketching. There is a setting in Tools>Options>System Settings>Sketch>Relations/Snaps that you may need to enable. It says "Snap to model geometry". Once that is set, you should be able to directly choose an endpoint, midpoint, node, etc. while you are inserting sketch entities. You can always draw an arbitrary line/arc/whatever and manually add a constraint (Jerry's instructions). Snapping directly is much quicker, though.
