    Stepper Motor/Driver Question

Ok.... Here it goes! I hope somebody can help me :-]

My drivers (IM483s) have a max output of 4 amps

Today I got a good deal from a friend on four 8wire Nema 34 Fulling stepper Motors (FL86STH80-4208B7.5)

Can somebody please tell me the best way to wire these motors until I can afford to buy better drivers?

Do I wire them Bipolar parallel at 4amps and just assume they will be derated or will this fry my drivers?

    Or

Can I wire them Unipolar?? If I go with Unipolar where do the COM wires go?
    To Ground??

    Or is there another option?

Any help would be greatly Appreciated!!! Thanks! :-]

    Wink bipolar series

why not wire them bipolar series..it would keep your current lower.

    bipolar series

I think the inductance would be to high for my drivers... ??

you must connect it in series

    motor driver pin

    red phase a (8)
    black phase a\ (7)
    yellow & blue connect together
    white phase b (6)
    green phase b\ (5)
    orange & brown connect together

    Inductance?

My Drivers are only good for half of the inductance that is on the motor spec sheet for a Series connection? Is that ok? I thought it was really important to get the motor inductance as close as possible thats why I was thinking Unipolar or Bipolar.... But if Series will work without any probs that would be Great! :-) Anybody else have an opinion on this? Thanks! :-]

Thanks EBC... I think UNIpolar (use half the motor) would be the best way to go for now until I can buy better drivers. :-]

you can run it without problem the dangerous from resistance so if you want more saftey you can add resistance in series as lamp or heater resistance but you can run it without problem

Thanks Mask... When you say add resistance with a lamp or heater in series im not sure I understand. Could you please explain with a few more details?

i think you afraid from burn the driver so to protect your driver from high current so you an add resistance 3 or 4 ohm with high power 50 watt or more so you can use simple solution as lamp which use in car i use it and its very good
