Gentlemen:

I am trying to program a tool path to follow the inside of the orange contour in the attached image. If it were flat it would be a simple inside profiling cut. In that it varies in Z that will not work. I looked at all the 3-D cutting options (V27 Mill Pro) and really don't see anything applicable. The issue is that I need to use a 5 degree tapered cutter and so need to control the Z height.

Have you tried 3 Axis Wireframe? You might have to offset your tool path because I think it is a center line cut.

Thanks very much for your help. I didn't know about the wire frame thing.

It took a bit of messing around, but I have the tool paths created with the 3-D wireframe. I will try the cut later this evening.

The 3-d Wire strategy worked. Strangely it did not seem to follow the path perfectly in Z, but it was good enough. I had to edit the path to put in a circular lead in and out, as the only option offered was plunge. Seems that there must be an easier way, but it is done and it works.
