Looking for a decent Laser $4000 Max $5000 if Possible

Ok I am wanting a laser to etch engravings on gun parts like slides barrels ect. One I need a machine capable of holding those parts and that can handle metal. It would need to laser etch deep egnough so you can see the art and not wear off very easy. First can this be done for sub $5000 if so how and where can I get one. I would perfer it beable to .dxf, jpg bmp gif files ect and be able to run off various software photoshop ect maybe VCarve ect

Any and all help would be appreciated......I am of course located in the USA so need to be able to get shipped fairly easy and would like parts to be available if something breaks. Not necesarilly in the USA but do not want to deal with fly by night oversea company and be stuck with a worthless machine.

You are unlikely to achieve the desired results within your budget, unless the results from a laser marking medium (spray, paste or film) are acceptable.

First, you are not going to etch into metal with most lasers, absolutly not with something in the $4,000 - $5,000 range - try $75,000 to $100,000 for a YAG or Fibre laser. You could use Cermark/Thermark and mark ON the metal, that may not be suitable for your purposes. Also, the lasers you will find in your price range are going to be cheap Chinese lasers with glass tubes - stay away from them if you are buying something you will be making money with. I haven't heard of anyone who has had their Chinese laser running successfuly without A LOT of tweeking and adjusting and then they never get the exact results they want. If you are a business, and plan to make money with your laser, spend the money on a REAL laser, one with a metal tube and drivers that work with virtually any program. Mine works as a printer in Corel Draw and has been virtually flawless for over 2-1/2 years.

I was going to suggest a larger marker, wich would not fall in that price range, or a cnc router. But see you solved your issue. Thanks. Jody
