    bridgeport vmc 500 - tool page ?

hello, going for a job where by i will be using a vmc 500, and have been told that they dont have a seperate tool page, that you put all your tool data in the program ? is this true ?

Or do i have the option to list the tools in a tool page and call them from the program ?

    Thanks

Are we talking Heidenhain? If so, try creating a program no. 0 to store tool data in. This option may depend on parameters - I didn't know about it myself until I switched jobs.

Defining tool data at start of program is not so bad if you are only working on one operation at a time. If you are running multiple ops, set-up a standard sub to define your tools.

Note that if they are using separate tool lists they are also probably using the dreaded 'zero' tool ....aaaaaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!!!!

ps if we are not talking Heidenhain disregard everything I have said...

yeh heidenhain it is, so they defently dont have a tool page ?

The idea of have the tool data at the start of the program isnt a massive issue, its just i like to have a few tool i use alot there ready to use, not having to set it all each time, more of a time issue i think.

Making a Prg 0. sounds like a idea, are they able to call a seperate program ?

I have not got round to seeing the machine yet so cant say much,

simular to a interact in a box i have been told

    Thanks for the help

    Hi Gus,

Have found that the older controls sometimes have a program 0 that is full of Tool Defs and referred to by all other programs. Do you know about this and whether the option is controlled by a parameter?

    Nice one csg67,

Mr rockers can now blow his new workmates away with that nugget, or alienate himself instantly, so might want to leave it for a couple of weeks before accidentally changing that parameter
