Well done Suat! Are you going to run a test on the spindle or breaking it in?
PS. I managed to open the 2016-files with Fusion 360, thanks!

Hi Suat,
It is tubular steel 200x150 filled with epoxy granite, but internally I left it hollow because at 80 kgs I think it should be heavy enough, can only hope that the dampening effect will be...
OK,
I'm also building (loooong term project :-( ) a ne mill for my SX3 but chose vertical style mill again.
But I am still not sure if I should go with the Tormach system and R8 spindle or...
Hi Suat,
You're doing a good job, all looking really nice!
Don't you put it back in the lathe to restore a nice finish with giving it a small touch up ?
I may have missed it, but what is...
Hi Azalin,
Something like this?

MSI Motors Linear Actuator MSI 1000 Adjustable Stroke 1300lb Load | eBay
I totally agree with the above..
You are delivering very nice work, basically with limited means, but you manage to do it.
Are you planning to make the toolholders also later on?
Thanks for this...
I think his response was to Vmax.. ;)
PS. Nice machine!
Rustyh,
This is a very nice looking machine with apparent great attention to detail.
I do hope you start a new thread when it arrives and share your experiences with this machine!
Anyway,...
Exactly, why could even these 'trading items' not be handled.. How much time now would it really take to get this done.
Moreover, Defeng also got paid for it already, isn't it?
BTW: I haven't...
Pff... Ignore mode should stay ON but someone here makes it very hard to resist to comment.
All I want to say is: do some research (the information is available) before placing incorrect...
Hi,
I think you've seen this one:
Spindle Cartridge, R8 3751 - LittleMachineShop.com
But it could also be too small for you with 1 kW handling power?
I didn't, can you post the link again please?
thanks!
Just keep ignore mode on :tired:
Hi John,
That is a beast! - compared to the table top lathes.. -)
Looking forward to see it working when you have it installed in your shop.
Keep posting your progress!

Hi John,
I hope your new lathe from China is not on your waiting list as well...?
PS. What did you buy?

Hi Hoss,
The new setup with 2½" cylinder is certainly looking better.
How much force on the drawbar you're looking for?
I think the lever now has an excentric cam, are you going to replace...
Yep, that was my fellow country man; Skillalot
Perhaps he can provide the required info..
Good luck all!
Ard
OK,
OK Hoss!
I think I'll go with a 2 hp motor then.
I have a SX3 mill right now but am (too slowly) progressing on my new DIY epoxy-filled-steel mill with 25mm linear rails.
Thanks,...
Hi Hoss,
Nice work again, this solution will definitely make it easier to source a suitable cylinder.
What is the spindle-motor power that you currently have on the mill?
What do you think...
I was just wondering what would happen when one tries to order something from the website now or just asks a question on shipping cost or whatever.
If he is still taking orders that would not bode...
Perhaps a new thread can be started about designing and making telescoping metal sheet covers.
When this would lead to a proper and public design everyone could change these plans to accomodate...
Thanks Gary,
Very nice work, will start with creating the scissors first.
Would be very nice to have each way cover on my DIY-build-in-progress mill like that!
BTW.., when I made my initial...
Hi,
Not a single reply..
Is really nobody also interested in these type of covers?
Or would it be out of reach for a DIY project?
Those are for use with double acting cylinders so you still would need to plug one exhaust.
I think with a single acting cylinder which is how Luke uses it, a 3 ports - 2 way valve should be OK -...
Yes, that is really good info which I was looking for.
Thanks so much for your fast response!

Hi & thanks for the part number which was helpful to locate them at Tormach.com.
I know how they work and have seen all listings at various shops but would like to know the specifications for...
Hi Mauri,
Can not find the Bellevilles at the Tormach site.
Do you have the technical data (dimensions and force-distance) so I can acquire equivalents locally?
You use 6 pcs. in total?
...
No, i haven't yet.
Perhaps I will start a thread when I arrive a bit further down the road of this project.
Time is going by so fast and there are so many things to do .. (besides the mill -...
Well, I hope at least it will be better then the SX3 I currently own, try to keep the total weight around 200 kgs.
Am looking forward to have it working with THK25 rails on X, Y & Z. axis. Am...
