Another fix by the Mighty Tormach Forum (or the "Tormach Mighty Forum" or as per other language syntax "Forum Tormach Mighty"??).
Good stuff guys.
What's CHUD?
Bevin
PS. I agree with your statement that it is better to stick with known bugs and their workarounds than pay >$900 or so for a new batch of bugs and learning. If SC provided a...
Little_chips,
Is your controller an off-the-shelf controller from Tormach or have you used a different computer and installed PP?
Bevin
MFchief,
I beat you, I'm 71 and still learning. I wonder about you saying you're a Spring Chicken... maybe that's a sign of... I know I want to say but I can't remember what it's called..
Bevin
PCW and cncbasher,
Thanks,
In the meantime I found one of PCW's posts 20sep15 that had links to the manuals. Very helpful,
And I applaud your honesty PCW. QC is not an easy function to keep at...
Machinery's Handbook says dry, as do many googled hits. It was what I was taught about 40 years ago, but things may have changed. Search on the site of the manufacturer of the cutters you will use...
Machine brass dry.
PCW_MESA,
So when I get my new PP Controller up and running, if I have the same problem how do I install the required jumpers?
Bevin
Yes I wear earplugs when I go to sleep. I remember things better..... or something to that effect.
Thanks mountaindew, a very workable solution. Tormach should stamp a little Smiley on the back of your hand (as they do in junior school).
Bevin
Frederic,,
Not that I know of.
Have you tried uninstalling (via Windows) and reinstalling SC.7? Remember about the dongle being attached when reinstalling
Can you free trial an upgrade to SC+?...
Mountaindew,
OK, where you need a new tool, you program a slow G1 move to a suitable Z height, press Stop during the Z move, manually change tool, touch off tool and zero Z, return program to line...
JW,
It's not really "on the fly" because the change to tool offset is done during the pause while the tool is changed. So it is not threatening the realtime Pause/Feedhold/Stop functions in any...
I just received this reply from Daniel Rogge:
"You cannot change tool length offsets while a program is paused for tool change. We recommend measuring tools before starting the program, even for...
I have just emailed Tormach on this question.
I am (or was) about to swap out my Mach3 with the Tormach PP Controller. I'll wait to see what they say.
I'm a little surprised if it is correct...
Do I understrand this correctly? PP doesn't allow you to zero or change the Z ht during manual tool changes as Mach 3 does?
Not good!
Bevin
John,
I think you are on Path Pilot, but I can't recall if you have the Tormach controller or a "home-modified" version. If standard Tormach, then they should be able to help.
Bevin .
Sounds weird. You could try cycling the spindle door switch but that should be OK since manual works.
Is there anything in the Manual (for your series)?
Ask Tormach.
Good luck,
Bevin.
I think you should try CadRhino's suggestion first. Within SC select the System Setup icon (next to the calculator icon) -> Visualization tab and there is an option to "use simple OpenGL objects...
I have SC7.1.6 release 51469 and it is stable in the areas I use it. I stopped updating SC because each release seemed to introduce bags while fixing others.
If you do upgrade to SC9 or 10, you...
TXFred,
When you say "sticky" what do you mean? When using the jogger, does the table not move for a few steps then jumps, or is it something else?
Bevin
metalshavings,
OK, perhaps if you attach your 3D model, you could get advice on how to best use SC7
Bevin.
metalshavings,
Re-reading your posts, are you having problems selecting the edges and surfaces to be machined (called Job Assignment) or selecting the appropriate Machining operation?
Bevin
metalshavings,
I am not sure I understand exactly what you have tried, so let me begin at the top and I apologise if I seem to be patronising you.
High Speed Machining is essentially using the...
I had forgotten about their policy of no support and I thought that your problem of lazy DRO could have been very easily answered by them. I was wrong. Just to confirm Tormach's policy, here is...
Tmarks,
Yes I remembered after my post that Tormach policy is not to get involved in discussions about PP running on anything other than their controller, or about user modifications to PP. A very...
Keen,
Good video and reassuring results. So Dell is coping. Well done.
Yes we don't really need to see DRO readings in a busy program. Surprised Tormach support didn't respond to this thread. I...
What version/release of SprutCAM do you have?
If you are using the correct postprocessor then perhaps update your SC with the latest release/build. SC7 and 8 are known for having releases/builds...
Keen,
Sorry to be slow in replying. (see your probe thread for my excuse).
Forget about the Brits, think Kiwi. (I actually typed thick instead of think... I'm sure it was a genuine typo and not...
Bobeson,
Sorry to be slow in replying. Was on a four day holiday break without internet connection, which did not have any effect effect effect....on me me me.
When I was in the Australian Air...
