Re: Any Clock Works Makers Here

    Wow,
I had no idea how this thread would go, but I am impressed with the work.

Where did y'all learn about clock making? Are there any good reference materials?

Amazing clock. Thanks for all the responses. There is a all metal, gravity powered wall clock in my future... at some point.

    Any Clock Works Makers Here

    Howdy,
Just wondering if there are any clock works makers here.

I'm not talking about adding a clock to a battery powered movement, which is what the internet seems to think clock making is...

    Re: How High

I guess another way to look at this is:

How often does your mill get coolant splashed up as high as the switches in the front of the electrical enclosure?

    Thank you,

    Howdy,
Thanks for the replies so far. I am really interested in a Tormach enclosure though.

It looks like the top of the electrical cabinet is about 40" from the base. Are y'all building your...

    Ray,
I think we are talking upgraded, as in not-factory pumps.

    How High

    Howdy,
For those of you with 1/2hp or more coolant pumps, how high should an open top perimeter type coolant enclosure extend. Obviously, higher is better, but what is a realistic height that will...
  9. Re: NEW BUILD - COMPACT STAND AND HIGH ACCESS ENCLOSURE

    Keen,
I think I have a bead on it now. The door sits inside the enclosure a bit so the coolant would have to do a tight turn to get out, since the door is so wide.

    Thank you,

    Keen,
Are the steps rubber of some sort? When the door lifts the bottom comes toward the operator and the top goes into the enclosure. I do not see how that can be done with a metal step.

    Thank...

It looks like the sides would be the most difficult. How do you seal the sides of the door?

  12. Re: NEW BUILD - COMPACT STAND AND HIGH ACCESS ENCLOSURE

I like the door concept very much. Thanks for sharing.

Question: What is the clear material used for the enclosure?

Question: What keeps coolant from leaking between the door and edge of the...

A bit of progress. Got the coolant catch box finish welded.

It is light gauge sheet, so spot welds with cooling time in between is the process.

Those are the drains, not the filters. The whole box, contains a 14" x 28" filter, and the coolant goes through two extra fine 10" diameter cooking strainers before it gets to the filter...

  19. Re: Winter is coming, garage is cold, do you heat your Tormach?

Well I may have stumbled onto a solution. Kats makes a magnetic oil pan heater in several power levels. I'm thinking of attaching one of these to the back of my metal tool box and letting the back...

Will not heat the shop. Will not just do nothing. Will not move to Kali, even at gun point. SCz is always good for a lecture, thanks. Thanks for the electric bathroom...
  21. Winter is coming, garage is cold, do you heat your Tormach?

    Howdy,
Winter is coming here in Idaho, and the garage is heated only by the shared wall with the house. I do not use the big garage door in the winter, but it still gets down to 40 degrees at times...

Just made a vise shoe for my Glacern V690, which is quite a chunk of iron. The shoe is made of wood to protect the vise when it is off the mill, and the drawer it is stored in.
