The new ECO NT series by Reichenbacher Hamuel guarantees absolute con-tour accuracy, the highest surface quality and precision. With the new fixed and low vibration gantry concept, the fixed machining table on a rugged frame and the high Z-axis every classical routing process can be carried out.

All machining positions at the workpiece are machined from all sides. The coordinate table concept with setting bushes and fixing holes allows a safe and quick change of workpieces. With the 3D-measuring pin the reference points are read and memorised in the control. In practise this means highest workpiece accuracies. The ECO-NT types are of special interest for customers who process plastics, composites and aluminium.

The HSC-turn-milling machine serves for challenging machining operations in the range up to 800 mm between work-piece spindle and counter-spindle (or tailstock as an alternative). Even the one-sided machining of blisks with outer ring or closed blisks at 100° will be possible for reasons of the asymmetric pivot range of the B-axis.

These features permit innovative solutions:

Applications for Hybrid Machines

Aerospace, gas or steam turbine blade or blisk repair: This new technology has been developed in order to improve the repair of turbine blades by completing many operations together in an automated cycle. Removing the manual operations ensures consistent quality, minimizes the cycle time, and results in reconditioned parts at a fraction of the cost of producing a new component.

Our Hybrid technology also allows super alloys to be clad onto specific sections of blade profiles to enhance the properties and performance of the component. Targeted cladding with additional material can reinforce parts structurally or improve the durability or chemical resistance of the parent material.

The continued development of “Contoured Leading Edge” or “Profiled Leading Edge” blades by different manufacturers in order to reduce engine noise, is ideally suited to our machine and is incorporated within the cycle to further perfect this feature.

Compact and affordable – Combining the capabilities of 5 different machines (5 axes CNC milling, Laser Cladding Cell, Robot Polishing Cell, CMM and Laser Marking) in a single machine, saves on floor space and costs only a fraction of a multi-machine repair cell.

What is the quality of the clad material?
Laser cladding is an established method, employed in safety critical applications, which allows high integrity material to be deposited with properties which can exceed those of the base component material.

Efficiency as an argument

Today, turbine manufacturing simply cannot be imagined without blisks. They have largely taken the place of individual blades mounted on disks. The word blisk combines the terms blade and disk.

Manufacturing a blisk means the lateral milling of blade profiles from a forged disk using a CNC-milling machine. This disk is clamped to the A-axis and can be rotated while being machined by the 5-axes milling head. Here, pivoting is exclusively done by the milling head.

The intricate geometry of such a blisk requires a lot of know-how and mature state-of-the-art milling machines.

Advantages of using a HAMUEL machine for blisk machining:
  • Flexibility: the same machine can manufacture either a blade or a complete blisk
  • Blisk clamped in a fixed horizontal component axis
  • During the process, the blisk performs a purely rotary movement, whereas all pivoting movements are effected by the milling spindle or the tool

A completely new sensation

The ECO-RS is one of the most recent machines developed at Reichenbacher Hamuel and available in two different sizes. Installation and start-up of the machining centre are as simple as never before, as almost all parts have been fixed to the machine and need not be removed for transportation or relocation. The special feature of the new series is the way how the components are fed into the machine. The ECO-RS is of the inclined-bed type, meaning that the table is fixed to the machine in an almost vertical position and can be swivelled.

The components are fed into the machine from the front, while machining takes place in the machine’s interior. As the table is inclined by 12°, the components are no longer placed and clamped horizontally, but almost vertically. Once the components are in place, the table will be swivelled by 180°. Here, safety is ensured by a scanner that covers the entire area. Thus, the operator will no longer have to wait for doors to open or similar things.

The absolute position measuring system for the CNC-axes renders referencing unnecessary. Equipped with a cardanic working head, the basic VISION is transformed into the VISION Sprint to provide small and medium-sized joinery and interior design companies with low cost access into 3-dimensional machining. The VISION Sprint unlocks the unique potential that high-speed 5-axis machining offers.

The positioning accuracy of the working aggregate means that the VISION Sprint is excellently suited to the requirements of stair and door production. The two swivelling axes are inclined at 45° to one another and, with optimum tool length, their centre axes intersect at the working point of the tool. By this principle the position of the working point does not change when swivelling in space, which means that no compensation movement in the linear axes is necessary. Thus the working area of the machine is only slightly reduced by the employed tool length when in the horizontal position.

The proven VISION machining centre already has an impressive track record of success in many demanding applications around the world. And, like all Reichenbacher Hamuel machines, the VISION features outstanding machine rigidity - the basis for precision machining. To meet the market challenges of today, and tomorrow, we have developed two new VISION models; the VISION-U and VISION-L.

A major feature of these machines is that they can be supplied with a choice of table dimensions and a wide variety of different heads. These features can be combined for single and parallel machining with up to two independent Y-slides. It is possible to use different working heads next to each other or one behind the other, thanks to the extremely rigid machine construction. The milling machines of the F-TB-series have been especially designed and optimised for the efficient milling of various root types for turbine blades. The design of these machines is that of a 3-to 6-axes CNC vertical milling machine with a horizontal spindle to drive the disc milling cutters mounted on a cutter shaft.

The machine bed and the machine column have been fabricated out of sturdy and heavy welded box design and are equipped with pre-stressed slide-ways or bearing guides to perform linear slide movements.

With the ECO CNC-machining centre, Reichenbacher Hamuel have utilised all their know-how and experience in high performance machine construction to develop a series that offers the highest levels of flexibility and productivity. The ECO brings together the attributes of reliability, speed and precision synonymous with the name Reichenbacher Hamuel.

The ECO is a self-contained, rigid heavy-duty machining centre. Its vibration-free fixed gantry has two or three supports, depending on the table size and it has one or more aggregate slides (optional at the rear of the gantry). Depending on production demands, the ECO can have one or two machining units that can be controlled by separate NC-channels. The basic machine can be supplied with single or twin tables with the option of additional tables to enable set-up work to be carried out while the machine is in production. This dispenses with the need for reciprocal loading.

The AMS 800 was developed for the powder bedding process and further processing by laser melting (LM) or laser sintering (LS) and is particularly suitable for the production of large-volume metal components.

The integrated powder preparation and inert gas system (nitrogen N2) places great emphasis on sustainability and safety. In the hybrid manufacturing of thermoplastics, the ECO-Hybrid combines fused granular fabrication (FGF)-based extrusion with machining.

This plant, which has been developed in cooperation with the Additive Manufacturing Systems Division of Hans Weber Maschinenfabrik GmbH, is based on the direct extrusion of a plastic granulate. The continuous additive printing process permits the production of large-volume and extremely resilient components. After or during printing, 5-axis machining takes place to optimise accuracies and surfaces. This makes the system an ideal choice for the production of rough-shaped components for use as quick prototypes or for the final production of small and large series.
