Hey Guys .
Ive got V25 .
Last week a customer sent me a solidworks file and i opened it etc etc etc .
This week my customer has made some changes to his part but now i cant seem to open it .
I get "failed in open" all the time .
Even the previous file wont open anymore .????

Is this a common problem or am i missing something here ? Has anyone else had the same problem ?
Has anyone got a fix to the problem ?

Any advice would be appreciated .

Native? Tell them to send again in .stp or .igs. Lots of times natives are not backwards compatable. Why you did open it idk.

Not sure what native means exactly ...
But ill ask them to send in another format as u mentioned and see if it works .

Native means native to the CAD program the file was created in, ie .sldprt or .sldasm

.igs or .step are more readily opened by more software packages than native files are.

Yes the file he sent me was a .sldprt file so then that would be native .

Yup that's native. It's not an absolute but if you click "save as" and look below file name, click "save as type" those listed are are also prolly the non native import types...mostly. ( imho .stp is the best followed by .igs. if its just a 2d vector, .dxf)
