Upgrading the Dyna Myte 3000 Lathe

I wanted to start a thread for my lathe update. I am fairly new to machining and this is my first lathe. I have been a member for years, but never had the time to dedicate to my home shop. With that being said I will be leaning on all of you guys for help.

I am looking to replace all the electronics on this thing. I will have a few questions that some of you guys/girls might be able to answer in my upcoming posts.

Cool. Is that an H model? More pics needed anyway. Machine porn. In Texas too.

I wish it was an H. More Pics coming soon.

By the way I have been reading your build and MRM RCModels build over and over again for ideas. The is another guy over at Dyna mechtronics DM3000 lathe , mach conversion that was doing a retrofit also.

I havent ever seen his build. Follow MRM not me unless procrastination is your goal.

Btw, does your work at all? Mine was working but had no software.

The guy I bought it from said he was using it and it worked perfectly. I decided to redo everything as soon as I got ahold of it and have never powered it up.

If all the parts are there I would reconsider. Had I known now what I didnt then, well you know. At least become familiar with it and see its capabilities.

I don't have the PC card or the software. I am certainly willing to try it out. Do you or anyone you know have the control card or copy of the software. I know I can feed the machine over a serial setup, but I would really like to see the machine in all it's formal glory.

I do have a Bardac 1600i on the way though...

You shouldnt need it (the Bardac). The spindle can be controlled manually or automatically.( via computer with the proper set up and software supposedly if you possess the almighty Dongle)

I plugged mine in and it worked immediately, quite well though slow rapids and clumsy membrane control. I was very much a newbie then (not too much more knowledgeable now). My understanding is that you can program straight from the console for many functions. It uses a different system than Gcode but very much capable.

I have seen some threads over the years that attempt to explain how to interface with it. I had already ripped mine apart. Pm me your email and I will send you all of the Dyna info I have, manuals and such. I do have a copy of the Dynacom.exe program. It never did me any good nor do I know how to use it, however someone was kind enough to give me a copy. There is or was a member here named Tbird Greg IIRC and he had a website showing exactly how to tie into it. The link disappeared shortly after it was put up but never knew why.

I am still waiting to hear the outcome of plugging in what you have to see if it works.

So, I bolted back together the few things I took off, moved the lathe close a socket, plugged it in....fans came on and nothing else. No startup, no manual spindle control, no lights. The control did not boot up at all. The E-stop will turn off the fans, so at least that works.I also have the contactor buzzing real bad. If I manually push it in (buzzing stops) I can get the control to power up and go through the startup. It faults out at stuck tool or can't move axis. I removed the contactor and cleaned off all the corrosion, put it back in, still buzzing. I now think the transformer could be wired incorrectly.
