    Threadmill with "C"

Has anyone used Gibbscam to threadmill a hole using "X" and "C" axis.
I don't have a "Y" axis on my sub spindle tool post and would like to produce a 7/16 - 24 internal thread using a .290 dia multi tooth threadmill.
I can't seem to find anything related to this with Gibbscam.

No, sorry for the confusion I just don't see anyway to thread mill using the "X" and "C" axis instead of the "X" and "Y" axis in Gibbscam. I do not have a "Y" axis on my machine for the sub spindle where I need to produce the thread. In my earlier statement I said I did not have a "Y" axis on my sub spindle tool post, I meant on the machine itself not my post processor.

I don't think you'll be able to make a good thread with X and C.

Turning C changes the thread angle. Also, if your thread is very deep, the top of the hole will hit the shank of the threadmill and break it off when you try to mill the bottom threads..

I know the machine can do it. I have made threads this way manually programming them, it's not hard at all just using "X" , "C" and "Z". I'm just trying to find out if Gibbscam can do this.

Contact Gibb Cam, there Tec support is very good, I'm sure you will get an answer from them, as you said it's not hard to program it by hand, it is nice though if you can find how to do it in there cam software, for a mill I use there threading all the time, but don't have the Mill Turn package
