    Thermark suppliers Australia?

    Hi,

Are there any Australians who use thermark / cermark / alternatives for metal laser marking?
Trying to find a good supplier preferably locally based or that will ship here.

Google so far has not been too helpful. Some sites state they will not ship it outside of US which is a pain.

Or are there any good alternatives to the thermark brand I may not know about?

    Cheers!

There was a discussion on Sawmill Creek about using Dry Moly in place of Cermark

Just did a Google and this is what I came up with.
I bought a small bottle of the LM600 and it really goes a long way and lasts really well. Cost me $260 3 years ago.

Thanks guys! I didn't realise how much life you could get out of one container. I am lookign into the Dry Moly too. Might be worth experimenting with to see if it is suitable for my applications.

    Cheers!

Ordered a can of CRC Dry Moly and got it today. It was only $10.20 + shipping from Amazon. Worked with it for about 3 hours and finally came up with a decent engraving on both steel and aluminum.. I had to shut off the air assist on my upgraded K40 laser, set the speed to only 10 and the power to about 13ma. Very slow going, but it engraved my open end wrenches quite well. A lot cheaper than any other option. Aluminum was touch and go. If it get overly cold, the Moly just curls up and leaves the metal. One more thing that I have learned since having my laser.

I think the settings for the Cermark are at least a 50 watt laser and whatever speed works well but I think it was about 1/3 from memory. My 30 watt laser didn't work well at all on it unless it was very thin metal that didn't suck the heat out of it and run VERY slowly.
Great to hear the Moly spray works.
Cermark is certified by NASA for use in space so it can't be that bad. Apparently there are a lot of free O2 molecules in space that like to bind to whatever they touch causing rust/corrosion. never knew that 'till I read it.

Am I missing something here? I thought we were having a conversation about marking metal not cutting it.

The Chinese do like to advertise any where they can. It must be a prerequisite of the company they work for to saturate the zone with offers. Some just don't know the etiquette.
I think you can ignore that post. :-)
