Yes you are wrong. You'd have a pretty weak stepper system if it couldn't handle the minimal weight of most high speed spindles mounted on the side of the head. What are you talking about cranking up...

I forgot to comment on this. Carbide no worry. HSS, yes. Many manufacturers temper the shanks and as I can speak from experience some go too far. I've seen more than a couple shanks get dimples from...
I agree and I only buy weldon flat shanks too because I know they work as they should in a setscrew holder, no surprises, no risks but will work in a collet holder equally as well.
john
I get it now, you don't want to pay for the tormach engineering and testing for a finished unit and are trolling here for help to design the mounts for free. Do it yourself if you can and see if the...
thou shall not diy and decrease sales $ from the kon. for shame
keep dreaming. gee it's been another week and no response here from defeng, has anyone else had third party contact with him or is john the only one. have you tried getting in touch with him wanker?
use as low rpm as you can with good support under each hole, a piece of wood underneath will work.
ROTFLMAO! fare thee well wanker, off to dreamland for you.
too bad you customers are the gristle he shoved off to the side of this full plate he has.;) funny he can contact a third party but not you or this forum with updates, surely he could have given a...
Then he should move up to 1 inch or as big as he can if he is still getting chatter like i suggested, mmkay?
the bigger diameter cutter you use the better off you will be to avoid chatter, that and carbide for stiffness unlike what some pseudo-pundits think for these size machines. if your 1/2" carbide...
from what i've read the self tapping screws come with the plastic part he is attaching to his machined part but the screws were meant for attaching to another plastic part i hazard.
i was thinking 3mm pop rivets in a length you need, for example...20Pcs Dome Head Sealed Type 3mm Diameter Blind Rivet - Collated Screws - Amazon.com these are way longer than you need i bet but you...
dalian, if you get past the ranting above here's another thought, do the parts you are attaching need to be removable? if not you could rivet them on easy as pie.
fyi i was giving advice to the op since it's HIS thread, far as i know you aren't the only one allowed to do that. search for self tapping screws and you will find many common uses are for sheetmetal...
i'd hazard a guess that the screws the op has are not the specialized ones you searched for and are the typical ones that i mentioned which are most commonly meant for sheet metal so my advice...
self tapping screws are commonly meant for sheet metal or soft material like wood or plastic, use a machine screw for a thick metal part.
carbide tts tools?
you think it's not the adult thing to do to give the guy credit for helping you out of a jam? interesting.

they are just tight, use a chunk of aluminum or brass instead of wood to knock them loose.
lol, at least his supplier actually shipped him a machine and is responding to his questions in a timely manner eh wanker? you can't say that for the money you threw down the drain 8 months ago...
you should get and read a book on the fundamentals of machining, i.e. amazon, the army though has made available a free manual with lots of info those starting out should know. get it here, Basic...
rustyh, wanker will blow a bunch of smoke about why he thinks the wait is so long but he has nothing about what you and others have grave concerns about, being completely ignored and this is not...
you are truly clueless handlewanker but go on waiting if that's your prerogative, i've seen enough here with the total lack of professionalism and completely ignoring customers to ever trust ordering...
i'm sure gjeff appreciates your personal tormach experience, kudos for sharing.
there's no need for name calling, that is a violation of the rules, would you like me to report you?
gjeff, i'd also ask erik or matt if new bearings will be included with the new screw then you won't have to worry about damaging the old ones, patience pays.
now that's customer service! now give Erik or Matt a call and get some more tormach expertise. i'm sure they'd help you once it shows up.
