    Xbox 360 controllers work well as a wireless pendant (you can go wired if you prefer), all you need is a wireless receiver which are dirt cheap.

    I reckon it would work, but accuracy and repeatability may pose an issue.
    Suppose it would come down to how well made the joystick type switch is ie: how much slop in the stick mechanism etc
