For a few odd jobs this is what I did to get a few more inches, when not in use it is stored to the left or removed.
That is a digital RPM gauge, works nice when using the manual control for setting spindle speed. Also works better
than the load meter to watch for cutter wear.
256276 Had to modify the R8 to TTS, works great, also speeds up to install and remove.
Recently purchased a GemPower right angle drive for my 1100, modified the R-8 to TTS. Need it to cut standard or metric threads on the end of longer shafts.
Has anyone else used right angle drives...
Dreamed it up on the fly, working on blue prints. The chip conveyer is flat, enclosed in a tub that drains to the coolant tank. You can run flood coolant and the chip conveyer.
Normally I let the...

Thank you, So far this enclosure has worked out so well, I am going to scrap the enclosure I built for the first
1100. That enclosure will be the same but geared for folks with less room....
This picture shows the clearance for the vise handle and the slots for the chips to
fall on the chip conveyer. T237522he 6" vise handle can stay on as it will never hit the enclosure.
The the...

More pulleys like a block and tackle will work too.
237166237164237162I have 2, 1100 series 3 Tormachs, Megan I and Megan II. 2 years apart. The first I got the basic mill and kept adding, the second got it load with almost everything.
Really does...
I doubled the cable that slows it in half. Later I am going to build a new gear reduction box to slow it even more.
Soon will have more pictures. I built my own heavy base that is wider than the mill and built a 28" wide 34" long conveyor between the legs of the base.
The conveyor dumps the chips into a bin...
Will have more pictures later, need a guard on the drive and a cover on the coolant recovery system.
Soon will have a youtube video of the system working.
Thanks
237092on237090 February 27th I got my second 1100, this is the finished enclosure, with chip conveyor
and lots of extra goodies. Integrated swing hoist and behind spindle port block for...
I have manual on one 1100 and the other has the auto. One mill I do odd single jobs so I am by the mill no big deal to pull the oiler.
The other mill is for longer runs and production so I went with...
If you go to Youtube, Tormach 1100 RPM MACHINE tooling test, you will see a tool I designed,
I ran that at 5,000 rpms. Some of the bigger ones I use for wood or plastic, I don't use those for...
234764I have 88, plus a few odd ones.
I mounted mine in the back on my enclosure. I have room in back of the machine to access the oiler, coolant and chip conveyer bin.
The addiction lets up a little when you get up to 101 tool holders. (not)
Thanks.
I have been a manual machinist for 31 years. 2012 when I got my 1100 Tormach is only when really started using computers or CNC.
Most of my work is one part farm equipment repair, so the 1100 gets...
Normally the parts are shielded. For a better view of it working I left it out. I am adding an air slide to move the gripper up and down,
then pick the parts out of a box to keep all swarf away. ...
Its on youtube "Tormach AutoLoader 007" For some reason it wont load up on here.
This some may find interesting. An AutoLoading system for the 1100 (or 770) If the vid is not clear, these are the steps.
1. switches coolant M8-M9 control to loader
2. opens vise
3. grips part...
Loosen the belt so the spindle wont turn. Then you can test it.
